Activities

The Gerontological Centre “Novi Sad” belongs to institutions of social protection that organise and develop different forms and contents of care for elderly people. In its Retired Peoples' Homes at Liman, Novo naselje and in Futog, the Gerontological Care Centre «Novi Sad» provides to its beneficiaries the complete room and board services, organised care, health protection, cultural-entertainment, recreational, work-occupational and other services, as well as the social work services. Through the work of the Shelter and Shelter centre, the Centre also provides day care to homeless people and is involved in accommodation and care for people in the acute social need. Within the basic social protection activity, the Centre assists the elderly and sick people and other adults in the execution of necessary household work and provides them care in their homes. It also enables its beneficiaries and members of clubs for adults and elderly people to satisfy all social and other needs, among which the need for socialising and spending time in a creative way is prevailing. The Centre also provides daily care, namely day care for some of its beneficiaries.

Organisation

The Gerontological Care Centre is a unique institution organised in eleven work units and six departments within the Administration Work Unit. The main criterion for such a model of organisation were the types of services, namely the needs for social protection of elderly people, necessary accompanying services and responsibility for work and work results.

The needs for the home type of accommodation are the responsibility of:
1. Work Unit - Retired and Elderly Peoples’ Home at Liman,
2. Work Unit – Retired and Elderly Peoples’ Home at Novo naselje
3. Work Unit – Retired and Elderly Peoples’ Home in Futog.

Capacity

The Institution disposes with 893 beds for accommodation – 858 in the retired peoples' homes and 35 beds in the Shelter for adults and elderly people. Out of the total number of available beds, 59.56% are designated to the so-called stationery accommodation (semi-mobile and immobile, semi-dependent and dependent persons) of beneficiaries, while 40.44% of the available accommodation capacities are designated to mobile, namely independent beneficiaries. All the beneficiaries of the Shelter are treated as dependent beneficiaries.

Staff

The Institutions employs 489 people in total. According to the qualification structure and documents on job systematisation, 33 people hold the University degree (social workers, lawyers, psychologists, pedagogues, doctors, engineers, economists), 29 people hold the higher education degree (social workers, nurses, work therapists, engineers, economists), 212 people hold the secondary school degree (nurses, physical therapy nurses/technicians, economic technicians), 95 people hold the high qualification or qualification degree and 120 employees are semi-qualified and unqualified workers.
